Academic profile
Kevin Mitchell, with a background in in engineering, management, communications and technology design, is one of the newest members of the UCS Centre for Design Innovation (CDI) and a part-time student on the MA programme: Design Context and Practice. Since moving into IT 20 years ago, he has worked for a diverse range of organisations (government, media, financial, technology and telecommunications) across the globe roles.

Specialised in delivering infrastructure and communications design, he is a Chartered IT Professional, Fellow of the British Computer Society and holds both Professional Certificate and Diploma in Management from the Open University Business School.

Keenly interested in how we communicate, or more often fail to, Kevin hopes to explore how current perceptions of design and the use of new media affect the role of the designer especially in today’s distributed “always connected” environment which commonly crosses global cultural and generational boundaries. His research focus is within the areas of creativity, idea generation, distributed collaboration and engagement with stakeholders.
